About

Freelance wrangler of strategy, processes and systems.

Developing boring solutions for interesting companies since 2002.

I am an enterprise architect and former CIO with over 20 years of experience leading technology programmes in complex, multi-company organisations. My work sits where business, technology and data exchange meet: getting many systems, vendors and stakeholders to agree on how information moves between them, and then making it work every day in production.

For 15 years I was part of Transcoma Grupo Empresarial, a Spanish logistics group of 12 companies. I was its CIO, its enterprise architect, a board member and, for a year, its interim CEO. I set IT strategy across 8 business areas, ran a €1.5M IT budget for 320 users in 18 offices, and led the group's move to a single finance ERP.

Much of that work was about standards. I led our adoption of new EU customs messaging and e-invoicing rules, which meant reading the specifications closely, explaining them to the business, and working with vendors and authorities until everyone's systems agreed.

Today I apply the same skills to public transport data. I have built my own integrations with GTFS feeds, and I am now working with NeTEx to model vehicle deck plans. I am also a regular public transport user, which keeps me focused on what these standards are for: passengers getting information they can trust.

I work from Barcelona and remotely across Europe, in English, Spanish and French, with some Catalan. I hold an MEng in Computer Science from the University of Kent.
